Special day

Mother's day is fast approaching and I still don't know what I would get for my mom or where we will go to celebrate that special day. But I do know what I would get for the hubby on Father's day--mp3 player. I really think he would love it because he's been wanting to get one like for so many months already and I think this is the right time. So gifts for dad, whatever it is, big or small, will be totally great for the occasion.

Serious diet

I'm on a very serious diet... I think LOL. I've read on the Internet that I really needed to watch what I eat this time because no gallbladder might lead to serious illness like high blood or my cholesterol would go up. I've eliminated carbs for the past 5 days by not eating rice anymore. And I regularly eat oatmeals with low-fat milk. I think I'm doing a great job on what I'm doing and I want to keep it up. All I need now is properly exercise and diet supplements and I'm on my way to full recovery.

Pic of the week

I was not suppose to purchase this laptop skin when I went out and bought ear plug for my earphones. But from the moment I saw this design, I fell in love with it hahaha! I had to admit, I was feeling a little bit hard metal-ish on that day. Bought @ CDR-king, Gateway. Picture taken: {09.13.2001}.

Did you know?

Did you know...

... that on February 04 is the anniversary of the Longest Surgical Operation on Record? In 1951, surgeons in Michigan operated for almost four days on Gertrude Levandowski with an ovarian cyst. By the time they were done removing the cyst, the woman weighed 308 pounds less. Yikes!

Back to work tomorrow

I'll be reporting for work tomorrow after 3 weeks (Sick leave) and I'm having mixed emotions. But I guess it's better than staying here in the house, doing nothing but eat and sleep that's making me grow fat everyday. Anyway, I'll be staying up all night to prepare myself on the night shift. I have the Internet and the movies to keep me company though. More plans ahead and I hope I can get to jam with the band anytime soon!

My stitches

Just got back from the doctor this afternoon. He took out the gauge and cut the remaining string from the stitches. It's still slightly numb in the wound area and I need to get used to the fact that I have stitches and need to be extra careful from now on. I'll be going back to work next week and I need to rest and enjoy my remaining days on leave. Movie marathon in a few days yipee!

Those were the days

One thing I miss when I was active during gigs is smoking. I know it's bad for me but I learned to control myself and I'm a proud quitter on smoking. I've been clean for 9 months already and happy with it. I remembered I used to try different brands like the black and milds, and smoke every after meal. Oh well, those were the days!

Not fat please!

After the surgery and I'm more afraid of getting fatter than I was before. I'm on diet before and I'm definitely dead serious about my diet. I read from an article that I need to be on a low-fat meal all the time. And I think I'm getting bigger because my undies doesn't fit right anymore argh. I just bought an underwear corset that goes perfectly with a garter belt, now I don't know when I can use it. Jogging. That's the answer to my problem.

Pic of the week

My sister tagged along her boyfriend Jamie when she came to visit us last year. We had some bonding moments in the beach, had a family trip to baguio and hundred Island. Jamie gave us a sample what he was drinking back in London--Strong Bow. Picture taken: {04.2010}.

To the beach we go!

My sister J just arrived this afternoon from Dubai. We ate dinner--yummy spag and shakey's pizza. Now we're packing our bags for the beach tomorrow. I was suppose to stay home but the little kiddo wants to come and my dad insist that I should go too because my sister is here. Good thing the hubby is so considerate and he let us go with them. So here we are busy busy getting ready. I hope the pain killer will do the trick tomorrow. To the beach we go!

Pasalubong

I can't wait for my sister to go home tomorrow. We are all excited because it's been awhile since she visit us here. Can't wait for my pasalubong--chocolates, dates, shoes! Yeah! I remembered last year when they were here, they have this pile of magazines of house architecture and designs, with all those fancy furniture, awesome view, killer backyard complete with humidifier. I wish we have a home like that, but not too fancy. For now, I'm waiting for my treats.

GALSTONE

We attended a wedding event, Saturday night and the kiddo walked down the aisle as a flower girl. It was her first time that's why we were all excited. When we got home, I prepared our things because we're going to my parents house the next day. I woke up early Sunday morning and we headed straight to my folks' pad. Hubby went to work. Me and the kiddo bath and dressed as we head to my sister's house with my parents. I was not feeling okay right then and there but I ignored it. The rest of the day was okay but I was still in pain, both stomach and back pains.

When kiddo and I got home (apartment) I was already complaining severe pain. I tried everything, I ate, drank tea and hot compress. We even called for a massage service for my back. The pain on my back was relieved but only for a while. Then stomach pain increased that I threw up. I slept for 3 hours and woke up at 3AM with stomach pain again. I drank a cup of tea thinking I need to poop but the pain was unbearable that I asked the hubby that we go to the hospital.

{04-04-11}
4:30AM - I was rolled inside St. Lukes ER. They put dextrose and pain killer to calm me down. Ultrasound was conducted and there the doctors found galstone. I was admitted immediately and was scheduled for surgery.

~ Cuddle up inside the ER while we wait for our room ~

I was not nervous or anything because I know deep inside I can do it. So I called the texted everybody. SIL was kind enough to take care of the kiddo for awhile for us and the rest of the zitros came before I was rolled inside the operating room.

7:30 PM - I was wheeled down to the operating room and I can tell my mom was soo worried because she barely said anything. I got nervous when I got inside because I was on my own. Doctors asked questions again and again and told me what I will expect in the next hour. I stayed in the corner for 20 minutes while they prepared the OR. I was brought inside the OR when the doctors were ready. I was so nervous.

8:20 PM - It was the last time I saw the time when I was conscious. Minutes later, doctor inserted meds that made me doze off.

11 PM - I was woken by the nurse and was told that the surgery was over and I was in the recovery room already. I felt like HELL. I still have the monitors attached to my body and oxygen mask on my face but I felt like I can't breath. My chest was in pain, like it was about to explode and my head was spinning and I felt a slight pain on my lower chest. I threw up but my throat was dry and I can't speak.

{04-05-11}
1 AM - I woke up and everything was calm. No more pain and my head was still spinning a bit. I was told that I'll be brought back up to my room. The nurse cleared the monitors and oxygen and I felt relieved. I took a quick peek under my hospital gown and found a white strip bandage under my chest.
~ The wound ~

Room 276 - I was glad to see the hubby sleeping on the couch. He immediately woke up when I was wheeled inside the room. He was happy I was back. But of course, I felt weird and groggy. It's the worst feeling ever...

~ After surgery... ~

Then the hubby told me that he was called down the OR while I was there. The doctor showed him the stone and praise us for our decision for the operation. I can't believe the stone this big was inside my chest for years. I'm glad it's out now.

~ Galstone ~

2: 30 AM - I decided to get some sleep instead of eating. I know I can eat in the morning but on that moment, I know I needed to rest. I had a hard time finding a comfortable position at first but Thank God, I dose off in a few minutes. The nurse continued to monitor my condition but I was too sleepy to attend to her.

7 AM - I woke up feeling dead hungry. And just when the hubby was about to open some instant noodles for me, the attendant knocked on the door and delivered my breakfast tray. I was surprised to see my breakfast---bacon, bagel and cheese! What a treat after that experience. This gave me a different perspective on hospital food.

~ Breakfast tray ~

As the hour pass, I felt better. The doctor advised that I can go home tomorrow and that I need to rest for 3 more weeks. I'm still thinking what I will do and how will get back on track again. I know it'll be a different lifestyle for me that I need to adjust in the next few weeks and I hope I can cope up.

Thank GOD I'm alive and well today. Life is full of hardships and challenges. With God, I know anything is possible. So whatever comes in my way, I'm ready for it.

Thumbs up!

I have to admit that the galstone operation was quite an experience for me. And I have my thumbs up for the hospital's performance and equipment. The staff, from the nurse to the doctors are very welcoming. They won't make you feel left behind or feel down because of your illness, but they will make sure that you'll feel at home in every way possible. What I've notice here also are the equipment--high tech. From the bed, dextrose regulator to the computer cabinet in the hallway for the billing inquiry. Everything is accessible and convenient. Anyway, I'll be going home tomorrow and I must say, St. Lukes Medical Center is definitely a thumbs up!

Birthday gift

It was my mom's birthday the other day and I don't have a gift to give because I have no idea what to give her. My two sisters gave her a watch already and I didn't know she wanted a watch. Anyway, I want my gift to be different or unique in every way. But it's true that birthday gifts mothers receives, whatever it is, is very special. I know for sure because I have a kid too. So I think I'll get a bracelet for her to match the watch my sister gave her.
