Eraserheads reunion

Yes, it’s confirmed: The Eraserheads are reuniting after many years of being apart, not for good but only for one show slated for Aug. 30 at the CCP Open Grounds.

According to the STAR source, all the original members (photo) are performing — Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan.

This piece of good news should make the Eraserheads fans very happy.

Said to be the ‘greatest Pinoy band,’ the Eraserheads will sing all their hit songs, including Alapaap, Toyang and Ang Huling El Bimbo.

So much water, so to speak, has flowed under the bridge since the band broke up years ago.

See full story at Philstar.

Tickets are free, we'll just have to register to this website and they'll email the ticket. I registered but they haven't got back to me yet so I'm not sure if it's really true. I kinda miss these guys. Memories of my so-called 'good old days' flashed before my eyes after hearing and watching their music videos. "Pare ko" was the ever first song I played in the guitar.

Videos below were I think were the most popular and played in the radio.

bass.multiply.com

I finally got the chance to replace the theme on my multiply page. And I felt happy about it because it looked light, refreshed and of course... a lot more girly this time. I've added some songs too on the Music feature, which is a cool option. Anyway, I'm quite satisfied with it. And besides, I only use this to store online pictures which is a big big help.

acne treatment

I had acne problems since I was in high school and believe me, I've tried all the remedies I could find. I tried astringents, facial wash, facial cleaner, and many more. My mom even brought me to the derma since I think made it worst. And then I tried fruits which subsided them a little bit. I was exhausted during that time that I wanted an effective acne treatment to solve my issue. Good thing, my acne problems are not as severe as before.

TGIF

Yes it's TGIF indeed because the little angel is feeling better already. The fever has finally died down after three days and she's back in her active and curious self again. Her voice is kinda husky which explains the sore tonsils but she's not complaining. We are still battling during medicine time. She still refuses to cooperate which leaves us no choice but to force her to take it. Sometimes, we could bargain or make a deal like, watch a movie after the meds or go to the Playground afterwards. I bought 2 dvds earlier, Sesame street A to Z and Elmo's World - Birthday and games. I can use it to make a deal so she can take her medicines tomorrow LOL.

The MIL was also thrilled to see her apo feeling better. The little angel was able to talk to the MIL via voice chat too. And by the end of the month, we're expecting a line of clothes again for the little angel from the MIL. Woah thank you!

We are expecting the SIL to visit us tomorrow so no plans in going out yet.

Happy TGIF to all!

yaya blues

3 days ago, the little angel fell from the bed under the yaya's supervision while I was taking a bath. I heard a disturbing thump on the floor and followed by a loud cry. I quickly got out of the bathroom still soaked with soap. I asked what happened? The yaya said the little angel fell from the bed. I got angry, of course. And what made me burst with more anger was that she didn't see how she fell. In other words, she was not looking.

The little angel's long time yaya left about 3 weeks ago and this is the replacement. She was suppose to take care of the little kiddo when it's time for me to sleep (I work night shift), but obviously the little kiddo doesn't like her. She couldn't give the little kiddo a decent bath, which end up me taking care of the little kid all afternoon. It's not that I don't want to, but I can't go to the office without any sleep. Can you?

Anyway, the next day, I got home and found out that the little kiddo had a fever. The hubby said, she threw up 3 times in the bed the night before. We were thinking she had pilay because of the nasty fall the night before. So yesterday, we went to a local elderly to have her check and Thank God, she had no pilay. Unfortunately, she still has fever.

The hubby took the time off this morning so we can bring the little angel to the doctor. We had blood tests and Thank God again, no dengue. We found out that she has sore tonsils again because of the ice cream and sweets she ate these couple of days. Anyway, she's still sick now but I'm certain she'll get better in the coming days. I hope sooner though.

And yesterday, one of the house help said that she'll be leaving on Sunday. Too bad because we liked her. The FIL asked the other house help (the one who let the little angel fell from the bed) if she wants to leave too, and she said yes and she requested to leave before the month ends. Since we don't want her anymore (because of the incident), we decided that she can leave on Sunday too.

This yaya blues is giving me a headache. Considering the little angel is sick and my schedule will change to mid-shift next week because of the training. I hope everything will turn out okay.

I only had 2 hours of sleep and now it's almost time for me to take a bath and go to work again. The little angel had on and off sleep this afternoon because of the fever. And she demands to sleep while I hold her tight. Lambing.

For now, the only thing that cheers the little angel is by watching Toy Story, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast while me beside her.

Still have to update the other blogs in the office hehehe. Oh it's time to go...

Eastwood with friends

After the Hancock experience, we just can't get enough. So we scheduled another gimmick when Batman is on and this time, we headed to Eastwood. It's the first time in years that I went to Eastwood to watch a movie and not go to work haha. So me and Aimzster stumbled at MRT North ave station. Yeah, we were suppose to meet in Cubao. We took a cab bound to Eastwood. We met up with the rest of the gang in the ticket booth. And the movie was 4:40pm so we had plenty of time. Since I only had 2 hours of sleep, we went to Starbucks for coffee. Then it was movie time! We bought 2 large pop corn bucket to fill us up. The movie was great too.

Then came dinner time. Malen recommended SEAFOOD ISLAND.

~ Aimzster at Seafood Island ~

We ordered All crab rice, Seafood sinigang and calamares. Yeah, it's not everyday we eat sea food so nilubos na namin LOL. When our order came, it was a whopping all crab feast!

~ Ruthie and Aimz getting ready for battle! ~ Lizz and Malen just can't wait! ~

~ "BEFORE and AFTER!" By: The certified PGs (patay-gutom). ~

After that delicious meal, we watched After Image perform. It was also years since I last saw these guys. I had my eyes on the bassist, who was previously with Francis Magalona's band before.

~ After Image on stage... ~

Then after their performance, we went back stage because Ruthie bought a CD and she wants it autographed. And we ended up taking pictures with the band members instead LOL.

~ Malen and Ruthie with the Band's bassist ~ Lizz with Wency Cornejo. ~

The night was still young and we had to go to DQ for an ice cream treat! Aimz and Ruthie had an Oreo treat and a mud pie ice cream for me!

~ DQ fans ~

Of course I did not forget Malen who deserves a treat for helping me setting up my wordpress blog. Thank you! Thank you!

~ Banana split.. wow! ~

I got home at 2 in the morning. Till the next movie and pigging out treat!

Batman - Dark Knight

Me and my friends watched BATMAN - The Dark Knight last Saturday @ Eastwood, Libis. We went there early because it's a 2 and a half hour movie. So we bought 2 large pop corn buckets to fill us up. The movie house was full.

I really liked Heath Ledger as the Joker in the movie. He really portrayed it well. Very different from his other movies. And also I'm not a fan of Christopher Nolan so blowing of buildings, gun fighting, and all the killings is really not my thing. But the I love the car and the motorcycle though.

All in all, the movie was great. I'm sure will it rate excellent to those Christopher Nolan fans out there. By the way, two of my friends who was sat on my right was distracted by lovers, who were suppose to be watching the movie but didn't. We end up talking about them instead of the movie LOL.

computer desks

Ever since I got this new wireless router, I've been chatting, surfing and blogging like crazy. And I can do it anywhere in the house, but my favorite place in the house is in the bed room. My daughter and I can cuddle up and still get online. And sometimes, I can do work while my daughter watch some morning cartoons. And then I realize I needed computer desks near the bed so I don't put the laptop in the pillow or on the side table. I think that computer desk I need will be nice beside our bed.

Pink ranger is a Pinay

I got this entry from my cousin Ramil.

Article taken from Philippine Star - Saturday, July 12.

If you are "techno"-crazy like my nephews, chances are that you are an avid fan of Power Rangers.

For the sake of old fogeys (like this one), here's a little backgrounder on Power Rangers, culled from the Net:

Power Rangers is a long-running American children's television series adapted from the Japanese tokusatsu Super Sentai Series, though it is a "new" production with English-speaking actors spliced in with the original Japanese footage in varying ratios. Due to the very Japanese nature of many of the Super Sentai Series' stories and design, the American shows are altered to fit the Western audience. However, many of the action sequences featuring the characters in costume and the mecah (referred to as "Zords" in the English series) are typically dubbed.

The series that began the franchise was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which began broadcasting as part of the Fox Kids group of programs that aired on the Fox network. It lasted for three seasons (from 1993 to 1996). The franchise has continued, and as of 2008 has consisted of 16 television seasons, 14 different series, and two theatrical films. The 15th season and the 13th series, Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive, debuted on Feb. 26, 2007, and completed on Nov. 12, 2007. The new series, Power Rangers: Jungle Fury, debuted last Feb. 18.

The Power Rangers series was distributed by Saban Entertainment from 1993 until the end of 2001 and was broadcast on Fox until the fall of 2002. The franchise was purchased by the Walt Disney Company as part of the buyout that took place between 2001 and 2002.

But what Power Rangers fanatics probably don't know yet is that a Filipino actress has been in the series (Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive), playing Rose The Pink Ranger, for almost a year, so petite (standing 5'1") that she looks like a Dresden Doll side by side with the other Rangers: Samuell Benta as Will The Black Ranger, Caitlin Murphy as Roni The Yellow Ranger, James Maclurcan as Mack The Red Ranger and Gareth Yuen as Tax The Blue Ranger.

She's none other than Rhoda Montemayor, 23, a full-blooded Filipina born and raised in London, along with her two siblings Renee (older), also an actress, and Rowena (younger) who, believe it or not, played the son of Lea Salonga in Miss Saigon when the Cameron Mackintosh megahit musical opened at the Theatre Royale Drury Lane in London's West End. Her mom, Rosalie Pichay Viloria (related to former Rep. Prospero Pichay), is Ilocana; and her dad, Eddie Montemayor, is Kapampangan.

"My sister Renee is the reason why I am in this business," revealed Rhoda. "She's the actress in the family, the first UK-born Filipina to play Kim in Miss Saigon. I wasn't always into the performing arts. I used to do ballet classes as a part-time work in school and Renee, seeing the potential in me, pushed me into auditioning for some plays."

Whatever happened to Rowena?

"She didn't pursue acting. She's 21 now and she's into events marketing."

Rhoda graduated from the Laine Theater Arts in London, a school which she described as "very similar to Fame" (remember the movie?). She can dance but even if, as she herself admitted, "I can't sing," she has been in several musicals-on-tour, such as West Side Story and A Chorus Line.

"I can carry a tune, all right, but I am not as good a singer as those in the Philippines where there are so many fantastic singers," Rhoda said in all candor and humility.

Rhoda is here for her regular vacation and she's staying for two months. She arrived on June 16, going around incognito, and she hasn't even said yes to any of the invitations for her to guest on TV. This interview was her very first ever.

So how did Rhoda get into Power Rangers?

"Disney went to London to look for actors to play The Black Ranger and The Pink Ranger," said Rhoda. "They had already found the other Rangers but they couldn't find the remaining Rangers, even if they had already auditioned dozens of aspirants in such faraway places as New Zealand, Australia, India and South America. I don't have any idea what qualities in the actors they were looking for. They actually went to London as a last recourse."

Rose The Pink Ranger is supposed to be a genius who graduated from Harvard at the age of nine.

"I was to find out later that the Disney people wanted an actor who is quite cool and who is able to pick up quickly," added Rhoda, "and who is trained in martial arts which I was not. I would learn martial arts only on the job. During the audition, they asked me to memorize some lines and they wanted an American accent. Three weeks later, I got the part. Before I could recover from excitement, I found myself on a plane to Auckland, New Zealand, for the shoot. I was there for seven months. Everything happened very fast, like a whirlwind."

Her background as a dancer came in handy for the choreographed action scenes.

"It was in Auckland where we trained in martial arts and stunts. There are a lot of explosions in the series, so we were trained how to run so that we wouldn't get burned. We were also taught how to fall properly so we wouldn't break our bones, and how to kick and be kicked without getting hurt. We started shooting in 2006 and the series started airing seven months ago in the US. It should be showing in the Philippines soon."

How much of her is Filipino and how much is British?

"Oh, I guess 50/50. I was raised in a Filipino family, even if my surrounding is very British. No, we never experienced any clash of cultures. Our parents instilled in us very Filipino values. Family and religion are very strong factors in our upbringing. We children were baptized Catholics."

As soon as she's back in London, Rhoda will resume work on a British film called Suicide Kids, a horror-thriller. Her first movie was Finding Neverland (yes, the Johnny Depp starrer) which was shot in London. Her other films include Animal (no, not the Rob Schneider starrer) and Adulthood (a sequel to Kidulthood), now showing in London, where she plays a cameo. (She has auditioned for other Hollywood films, one of them Memoirs of a Geisha.)

Would she consider an offer to do a project here?

"I'm here on vacation but I'm open to anything."

Hmmmm. That's your cue.

~ Us with a Power ranger! ~

This was taken last June 29 @ Phoebe's first Birthday. She was very nice and she adored all the kids!

TGIF!

TGIF again! And it's my fifth time to go to the gym the day. I'm sweating too much now compared last week. My friend said, it's because my metabolism is gradually changing now. The sports bra I got from the MIL was very very useful. And yeah, I have a new friend... It's my gym bag. I was suppose to get the Jansport-thingy that I was bragging about but it's too pricey. And the one I like was about Php 1,9xx (no way!) and it's not durable because it's thin and doesn't even have back support. We stroll at the mall and found SANDUGO--makers of mountaineering equipment so we know it's durable (yeah my sandals is Sandugo). It also has lifetime warranty even without the receipt. This bag is so spacious, I can put my clean clothes and the dirty ones, including the bath towel. I loved it. It's my new best friend hehehe And it's only Php 849. Aw! Let's patronize Filipino products! hehehe.

~ Gym-mie bag ~

If also our last day in the project (office). The client was pleased because the project was a successful. We pray for more projects like this hehehe.

Hmmm... so what's in store for the weekend? We might stay at my parent's house and we have a kiddie party to attend to on Sunday. I'm excited! Happy TGIF!

Two and a half!

Yes! She is two and a half! And after 6 months, we're going to celebrate her birthday again. Wahh time flies so fast. I remembered when she's only crawling and in a blink of an eye, she's already running. Some says, that this is the "Terrible two" stage but for it's the "Terrific TWO" stage because I'm focusing on her achievements and seeing things in a good way.

~ Terrific TWO! ~

So here's the milestone based on the Baby center chart.

• Takes off clothes ~ only her shorts and not her shirt.
• Names several body parts ~ Sometimes we play games in naming parts of the body.
• Brushes teeth with help ~ Sometimes she doesn't want supervision and wants to brush her teeth alone.
• Speaks clearly most of the time ~ Most of the time but not all the time. She's still in the bulol stage and sometimes having a hard time saying what she wants.
• Draws a circle and a vertical line ~ She's learning to hold the crayon now.
• Balances on each foot for a second ~ Imitates what she sees on TV.
• Jumps up off the ground ~ She loves to jump.
• Names one friend ~ She tells me that she saw her friend, bon-bon in the playground.
• Carries on a conversation of two to three sentences. ~ She loves talking.
• Names at least four pictures in a book ~ She loves her books, especially the animals.
• Names two actions (e.g. skipping, jumping) ~ She can do those actions too--walking, running, skipping, jumping.
• Uses prepositions (e.g. on, in, over) ~ She's learning everyday.
• Builds a tower of six building bricks ~ Loves to stack bricks/toys and one time we saw her stack cans she got from the grocery bags, and then she would proudly show it to us.
• Throws ball overarm - Sometimes throws the ball overhead!
• Hops and skips ~ When she was walking with her dad in the mall, I saw her hop and skip in between steps.
• Expresses a wide range of emotions ~ When I was on the lappy, I saw her threw her dad's basketball, kicks it and shouted at it. Then she approached me and said, "Mom, I'm angry at the ball." I laughed hard.
• Completely toilet trained during the day ~ ...and night. We are completely diaper-free! Last Saturday, we were in Trinoma. She did number one and number two in the toilet. We are so proud of her.

We recently bought her a set of crayons and a coloring book, so she can be created as early as now. So far, she's doing so well. And yes, she's left handed.

Things like these are meant to be cherished. We are looking forward for more toddler milestones from the little kiddo.

Bubba Gump

Yesterday was the birthday of SIL's Husband. The little angel and I already went to their house in the morning to spend time with them and had dinner out @ Bubba Gump with the rest of the family. We left their house @ 5:30pm and we've met the FIL and the hubby in Trinoma at 6:00PM. It was our first to eat there and so here's our menu.

~ Bubba Gump - Shrimps! ~

We've tried their shrimp popcorn for the appetizer. The presentation was good and the fried shrimp were great. Is includes two type of dips--tomato catsup and thousand island. But the little angel only ate the popcorn and not the shrimps. I was not able to take a picture of the other appetizer dish though, but it was like shrimps sauteed with garlic and spicy sauce. It was spicy!

~ Shrimp popcorn! ~

Drinks. They have a variety of drinks to choose from. My drink was recommend by the SIL. Speckled Lemonade. Well, it's lemonade with strawberries. It tastes good though. Perfect drink to gulp down those shrimps.

~ Speckled Lemonade. ~

Okay, so here's the main dish. Unfortunately, I can't give the exact name of this dish because I was not the one who ordered it hahaha. But by the looks of it--it has spare ribs, chicken in barbecue sauce, corn, fries and coleslaw. I love the ribs and the coleslaw was good.

~ Full meal. ~

Okay, this one is my favorite. It's a variety of fried shrimps, small lobster, fish fillet and fries served in a pail. It was served with 2 dips--melted butter and tomato ketsup with chop garlic and again, coleslaw and a plate of rice.

~ More shrimps please! ~

The last dish was, of course shrimp again, but it was cooked in a semi-sweet sauce with coleslaw. It had a different twist to it that's worth trying. This is perfect with rice.

The perfect way to end a scrumptious meal was this delicious desert. MUD PIE. We thought it was just plain cake but we were wrong. It's ICE CREAM CAKE! It's frozen solid as it is. It's not that sweet so it's perfect. The little angel enjoyed this dish. Who wouldn't right?

~ It's ice cream cake! ~

I told myself that I should drink tea when I get home, hit the gym and double the work-out hahaha. And here's my picture with the little angel, trying to imitate my "Korean peace sign" pose. Look at her fingers LOL!

~ Our "Korean peace sign" pose ~

But it didn't end there! Yeah we went to Starbucks too and had coffee. It's tall chocolate cream chips for me and the little angel. Sugar rush!

~ I love chocolate! ~

We finished at 8pm and yeah, it's time for me to go to the office. That ends our day and it was perfect. Sino kaya susunod na mag be-birthday? uhmmmm.

Mr. TREK

I was invited to join a mountaineering club from my previous work, a few years back. Then I was able to join a fun climb in Laguna. And last year we celebrated the club's anniversary and went island hopping in Anawangin Zambales. It's the month of July , and it's the club's anniversary again. I'm so excited to know where are we going this time. And to prepare for that trip, we bought this TREK 50 liters bag last week. But before that, I was asking my friends on what to buy. We were suppose to buy HABAGAT, but it's so pricey now. Their 50 liters bag now cost 4k plus and same with SANDUGO. Then another friend recommended TREK which we can find along Quirino station (LRT). This product offers a lifetime warranty from the date of purchase against defects. We can simply bring this to their shop for repair even without receipt. And the price? It's only Php 1,400. Yey! Now this bag will surely witness our out of town adventures. Can't wait!
