With no local support, Cynthia Alexander migrates to U.S.
At the end of the month, singer, songwriter and bass player extraordinaire Cynthia Alexander is leaving the Philippines.
For good.
Cynthia is uprooting herself and her family and migrating to Seattle, Washington.
Her reason?

I'm truly devastated honestly. But this is reality people and evenly common story...
...artist leaves home because of no support;
...settles abroad and apparently gets recognized;
...artist gets to be famous internationally;
...homeland claims.
And She IS Cynthia Alexander for crying out loud. Multi-talented. Best there is, I tell yah.
I can't blame her because I know there's a lot more than this. Of course, there's better future for her and her family there and more reasons to expand her career. Good for her.

Falcon leaving
'Falcon' leaves PH; monsoon rains continue
MANILA, Philippines – (2nd UPDATE) Tropical storm "Falcon" (international name Meari) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday, but monsoon rains persisted over large parts of Luzon.
Science and Technology Undersecretary Graciano Yumul told radio dzMM Saturday morning that Falcon left the PAR around 12 midnight.
Yumul explained that rains on Saturday morning were caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat.
He added that moderate to heavy rains (6 to 15 mm per hour rainfall) is expected to hit northern and central Luzon and Metro Manila.
Weather is expected to improve by Saturday afternoon in Metro Manila and by Sunday in northern and central Luzon.
Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy skies on Saturday, said Yumul.
Based on its 5 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said "northern and central Luzon will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides."
It said "coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough."
Falcon had also intensified with "maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph."
Yumul added that the weather state bureau is monitoring 3 low pressure areas developing near Mindanao.

Bin Laden Dead
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. forces finally found al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden not in a mountain cave on Afghanistan's border, but with his youngest wife in a million-dollar compound in a summer resort just over an hour's drive from Pakistan's capital, U.S. officials said.
A small U.S. team conducted a night-time helicopter raid on the compound early on Monday. After 40 minutes of fighting, bin Laden and an adult son, one unidentified woman and two men were dead, the officials said.
U.S. forces were led to the fortress-like three-story building after more than four years tracking one of bin Laden's most trusted couriers, whom U.S. officials said was identified by men captured after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
"Detainees also identified this man as one of the few al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin Laden. They indicated he might be living with or protected by bin Laden," a senior administration official said in a briefing for reporters.
Bin Laden was finally found -- more than 9-1/2 years after the 2001 attacks on the United States -- after authorities discovered in August 2010 that the courier lived with his brother and their families in an unusual and extremely high-security building, officials said.
They said the courier and his brother were among those killed in the raid.

Pacquiao wins 8th World Boxing Title
Manila, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao took Mexican fighter Antonio Margarito to school after giving the “Tijuana Tornado” a sound beating and thus winning his record 8th world boxing title in their scheduled 12-round WBC super welterweight championship at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
Pacquiao was aggressive all throughout, throwing punching combinations which Margarito failed to dodge.
At one point all Margarito could do was smile, believing that the Pac-Man was indeed fast and for real.
However, Margarito would just not go down. Despite fighting with a clear handicap and impaired vision due to the beating he took, Margarito held his ground and would not give Pacquiao a knockout.
For Pacquiao, the win was a record 8th world boxing title, a feat that will truly be hard to surpass by any boxer.
The score cards showed 120-108, 118-110, 119-109, all for Manny Pacquiao en route to a unanimous decision victory.

MANILA, Philippines— (UPDATE 3) The number of fatalities in the bus accident in Benguet province rose to 41 Wednesday night, the provincial police chief said.
In a phone interview, Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor said eight more people were being treated at Baguio General Hospital for injuries. He said rescuers have retrieved six more bodies from the bus wreckage, including one body pinned under the bus’ engine.
Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the driver of the Eso Nice bus (AYB 549) suddenly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating Naguilian Road in Barangay (village) Banangan, Sablan town at 9:20 a.m. As a result, the bus, with 47 passengers on board and which was on its way to La Union from Baguio City, plunged into a 35-foot ravine.

Micheal Jackson dies at 50
LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the "King of Pop" and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50.Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.
The circumstances of Jackson's death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the hospital, Ruda told the newspaper.
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.
The public first knew him in the late 1960s, when as a boy he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the music group he formed with his four older brothers. Among their No. 1 hits were "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "I'll Be There."
He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.
"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." Dakota Fanning on New Moon
Dakota Fanning may not be saying much about joining the cast of the Twilight sequel, but yesterday she did confirm she's in talks to play Jane!As I exclusively reported last week, the 14-year-old child star has been offered the role of the young killer bloodsucker in the movie adaptation of New Moon, the second book in Stephenie Meyer's bestselling teenage vampire series.
"It's definitely possible. I really hope it works out," Fanning told Hitfix.com while promoting her latest flick Push. "It would be a really fantastic experience I'm sure."
Director Chris Weitz is so confident that Fanning is right for the part, he offered it to without even an audition. Filming of the much-anticipated flick begins in March in the U.S. and Italy.
A member of the deadly Volturi, Jane is described in a casting notice as a petite blonde with a "Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises."
An online petition to cast Fanning as Jane has seen a huge bump in signatures ever since my story broke on Wednesday.
A rep for the studio, Summit Entertainment, reportedly confirmed Fanning is one of the actors being considered for the role.

Yes, it’s confirmed: The Eraserheads are reuniting after many years of being apart, not for good but only for one show slated for Aug. 30 at the CCP Open Grounds.This piece of good news should make the Eraserheads fans very happy.
Said to be the ‘greatest Pinoy band,’ the Eraserheads will sing all their hit songs, including Alapaap, Toyang and Ang Huling El Bimbo.
So much water, so to speak, has flowed under the bridge since the band broke up years ago.
